It's 4:37 and I haven't done anything all day.

Yesterday was insane, a little dissapointing yet still rewarding, and pretty damn fun.
Shall I recap?

8:15- Showed up at school with the pit to have breakfast. Donuts, orange juice. Yum.
9:30- Band worked on visuals outside while the pit sat in a circle and clowned around.
10:00- Ate, got ready, inspection.
12:00- Departed for cajun field.
2:30- Pit got on the field, stayed at attention for 30 friggin minutes! [My life.]
3:00- Best performance we've ever had.
3:30- Pictures. Formal, informal.
5:00- Returned to the satnds.
7:30- Awards:
Guard: 2
Drum Major: 2 [T_T]
Percussion: 1
BAND: 1
:D
8:30- Golden Corral. LMAO! Sat at a table with Ellen, Trent, Katie, Robert, and Clarence. We ate our weight in food. Ellen piled her plate with steak, mashed potatoes, and macorroni. She took exactly one bite of each. She then took a bite of each of Trent's things [fish, veggies, mushrooms], a bite of my rotisserie chicken, and half of Clarence's shrimp. She claimed that when she's on her period, she has weird cravings. She then picked up the little menu thing and demanded Trent fix her some shrimp scampi. Before he could reply, she jumped up, yelled "DESSERT!" and ran for the bar. Trent and I just gave each other a wary look and followed suit. I got apple pie, he got chocolate pie. Ellen got blueberry pie with gummi bears, M&MS, and sprinkles, along with 5 chocolate icing balls. She then got another piece of steak and we returned to the table. She then proceeded to mix the steak and pie and eat both together. [Honestly, it made me sick.] So then Ellen, Tarence, and Katie decided to have a contest to see who could eat the most Golden Corral sugar packets. Nobody won, because after 9 straight, they were all on such a sugar rush that they couldn't get up or walk. So Tret got up and walked Ellen to the bus. Tarence decided he wanted a slow dance, so he grabbed me with one hand on my waist and one hand holding mine, and led me to the bus, singing loudly so we had something to dance to. I kept my other hand around Katie's arm so I could keep her in tow, and she was so completely out of it that she missed the step down, rofl. On the bus ride home, they both completely CRASHED, and when we got out of our bus, we met up with Trent and Ellen, who had not yet crashed.

So needless to say, our night was very eventful.

Yesterday was also very sad. The seniors said goodbye to marching band, and Mr. Landry made a speech, which ended with a poem that made most of the band cry like babies, [including myself].

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end
He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?
